Hey dear community.
We want to share an update to our Pricing per Message model! After reviewing our users’ behaviour, we’ve introduced adjustments that make this pricing mode more flexible and fair for everyone.
What’s New?
We’ve rolled out a “Capped Pricing per Message” system! Here’s how it works:
- Pricing is partially dynamic: Shorter prompts will now cost less than before (compared to the previous version of Pricing per Message).
- For longer prompts, costs are capped at an upper limit, so you’ll never pay more than the maximum fixed rate—even for context-heavy conversations.
This means while some interactions might cost slightly more, many others—especially shorter prompts—will actually be even cheaper than the earlier version of Pricing per Message! And don’t worry: you’ll still avoid the dramatic coin usage from traditional word-based pricing for long chats.
Examples: How the Pricing Ranges Work for Some LLMs
To give you a better idea of how the new capped Pricing per Message works, here are examples for some popular models:
Examples: How the Pricing Ranges Work for Some LLMs
To give you a better idea of how the new capped Pricing per Message works, here are examples for some popular models:
- Claude 3.7 Sonnet:
- Cost ranges from 5 coins (for very short prompts) to 75 coins (for longer ones).
-
Example:
- 400 words cost approximately 21 coins.
- 800 words cost approximately 54 coins.
- Above 1000 words, the cost is always capped at 75 coins.
- GPT-4o:
- Cost ranges from 3.3 coins (for very short prompts) to 49.5 coins (for longer ones).
-
Example:
- 400 words cost approximately 14 coins.
- 800 words cost approximately 35 coins.
- Above 1000 words, the cost is always capped at 49.5 coins.
This structure shows how smaller prompts can now be more affordable, while longer prompts remain predictable with capped pricing.
Why the Change?
- To prevent misuse: The original version of Pricing per Message offered a fixed cost but wasn’t always fair in certain scenarios. This adjustment encourages more effective and equitable usage.
- Fairer for everyone: It ensures costs scale appropriately for different message lengths, making longer conversations more manageable while keeping shorter prompts light on your wallet.
- Enhanced flexibility: The cap guarantees that even large, context-heavy chats remain predictable and affordable.
Key Benefits of Capped Pricing per Message:
- Costs won’t escalate dramatically for long conversations or context accumulation.
- Shorter prompts are cheaper compared to the first version of Pricing per Message.
- No penalties for using large files or extended dialogues.
- Predictable upper limits—say goodbye to surprises when working with complex conversations!
We’re confident these changes will provide you with a more balanced and enjoyable user experience, whether you’re engaging in quick Q&A’s or diving deep into lengthy discussions.
